Technical Support Forums Question pages

|
The Toshiba "Technical support forum" is designed to help users who have technical questions or issues. Questions focus on technical issues relating to hardware and software issues. The forum
is divided in to categories in order to facilitate the posting and answering of questions. It is always a good policy to post questions according to the appropriate category. It helps other users
find your questions easily.

A question posted to the forum should be clearly written and describe the issue with the appropriate details. Hence, there are key pieces of information that should be included in your posting
in order to make it easy for other users to address your question.
Firstly, it is strongly advised that use the "subject line" to state clearly what your issue is. One example, "Boot problems with Windows XP SP2 and Satellite A80". In the body of
your question, it is advisable to state the machine name and number as well as the operating system that is in use. With the increasing complexity of operating systems, it is also important to state
what Service Pack (SP) is installed. Moreover, if your issue is related to a special software that is installed or hardware that is in use, it is important to outline clearly the details of the
software or hardware including release numbers.
Finally, many forum users find a step-by-step description of the problem or issue extremely helpful. This can minimise the number of "reply" postings to your questions that may be
required to obtain additional information.

What is the "Mark this thread as a question" function in the Post editor?
|
In order to help other users identify your posting as a question and to facilitate a quick response, the Toshiba "Technical support forum" includes a functionality known as "Mark this thread as a question".
When posting a question to the forum, a user has the option to activate this functionality. If you choose to do so, your posting will be "marked" as a question and indicated on the Topic content keys. This allows other forum users to identify the posting as a question and to be eligible for reward points on reply to the question.
If the Topic has been marked as a question, the question author will be able to tag the replies to his question with a "Helpful Answer" pointer, or a "Correct Answer" pointer. Two "Helpful Answer"
pointers and only one "Correct Answer" pointer is allowed per Topic (thread). On tagging these replies with pointers, the question author assigns reward points to the user with the tagged
reply.
When the question has been answered, the question author can choose to mark the question (thread) as answered. Answered questions are highlighted on a Topic list page with a green "Question Answered" star - in the Topic content keys.

Is the forum closed to specific users / questions? Can I reply to any question or issue?
|
The Toshiba e-support forum is open to any and all users who have a technical support problem or issue. Any user is welcome to post or answer any posting as long as they are registered users and observe the rules of conduct. The forum is moderated for obscenity and destructive behaviour. On the whole, however, the forum is a self-regulating community of users who are interested in having their support issues solved or in solving other people's support issues.

How do I obtain Reward points for my replies to the questions?
|
Reward points can be assigned by a user who posts a question topic and marks this thread as a question. The question author can tag a reply with "Helpful" or "Correct" based on the quality of the answers. Replies marked as "Helpful Answer" are assigned 5 reward points and replies marked as "Correct Answer" are assigned 10 reward points. Posting a good reply to a question will encourage the question author to assign these "Helpful" or "Correct" reward points to your reply. If your reply is marked as "Helpful" or "Correct", reward points will be added to your account profile and a yellow "Helpful" star - or a green "Correct" star - is displayed next to your reply in the Topic. Please also see the question "How do I assign points?" in the "Reward
Points" Help file for more details.
